Hello parents and students!
My name is Krista Schwanke and I am one of the Special Education teachers at Madelia High School. The 23-24 school year will be my 27th year of teaching. I service students with Specific Learning Disabilities (SLD), students with Other Health Disabilities (OHD), and students who have difficulties with Emotional or Behavioral Disorders (EBD).
My assignment is very exciting because of the wide range of student abilities. I focus my instruction on the students Individualized Education Plan (IEP). Those plans include goals to increase reading, writing, and math abilities, positive behavior skills, organizational skills, and social interactions.
I have my Bachelor of Science degree in Elementary Education and Special Education from Mankato State University. I also have a Masters of Arts degree from Saint Mary’s University of Minnesota.
I love teaching and students continue to challenge me with their unique needs.
