Welcome to Madelia Public Schools!
It is with great anticipation that I enter the 2026-2027 academic year as the Superintendent of Madelia Public Schools. The Madelia Schools offer much to an already vibrant and progressive community. The Madelia Strong spirit does not waver when looking at a bright future for our kids, our town and our surrounding rural families.
All too often, a school district’s vision and mission statements get lost as simply words for a website or to demonstrate that “we worked on a plan.” However, the three words that the Madelia Public Schools chose to guide the teaching, learning and experiences within the District aren’t just for our website. They are living, breathing words: Inspire, Empower, Succeed.
Inspire: Education begins with a spark. The first responsibility of Madelia Schools is to create environments where curiosity thrives, where teachers are energized to innovate, and where students are inspired to discover their unique passions. Alongside our teachers, all staff have this responsibility as they manage our offices, keep our buildings in good working order, assist our students as paraprofessionals, or lead as administrators. We want our schools to be places of wonder, creativity, and joy.
Empower: Madelia Public Schools is committed to providing our students the resources, critical thinking skills, and confidence they need to take ownership of their learning. It is one of my goals to empower our educators and staff with the resources and support necessary to deliver invigorating experiences, leading our students to become critical thinkers and problem solvers.
Succeed: Success looks different for every child, but excellence is the Madelia standard. Whether it is academic achievement, artistic expression, athletic triumph, activities involvement or personal growth, success will be defined by our students’ readiness to confidently step into the world and make it a better place.
Great schools are built on strong relationships. Over the coming weeks and months, my priority is to listen and learn. I look forward to meeting many of you at school events, Park Days and other community events, in our Madelia stores and places for food and relaxation, and wherever we run across each other. Your insights, history, and dreams for our children are vital as we write the next chapter of Madelia’s story.
I am grateful for the many warm welcomes I have received. I started my education career in Madelia as the High School Choral and General Music educator from 1999-2003, a job I treasure and remember as the perfect first teaching experience. In many ways, it feels as if I am ‘coming back home.’
